Amazon Must-Haves for Traveling with a Baby

My husband and I have always loved to travel, and when we had our first baby in 2024, I was nervous that we would never be able to travel again the way we used to.

I am a very scheduled and organized person when it comes to traveling (my husband is not so much). He is the one in the travel TikTok trend wandering around the airport without any worries, and I am the one with the passports, itineraries, and everything else. However, now that we have our daughter, he takes on the role of entertainer, and he appreciates my planning-ahead mentality because we always have everything we need to make traveling with a baby easier.

Our daughter had been on three plane trips by the time she was one, so I am sharing my top Amazon purchases that make traveling with a baby (ages 6 months to 1 year) easier.

1.The Doona

  1. The Doona is by far the number one item I would recommend for traveling with a baby. It doubles as a car seat and a stroller, so you have less stuff to juggle at the airport. We always check the Doona at the gate before boarding the airplane, but others choose to book their infant a seat and secure the Doona in its own seat next to them so they can keep the baby secured if they want to. The other reason I love the Doona so much is because it’s one less thing you have to think about or pay for when you arrive at your destination. The Doona easily hooks up in any backseat without a base, so whether you’re renting a car or taking Ubers, you don’t have to worry about renting a car seat.

2. Baby Carrier

Another item that helps provide additional hands when traveling is a baby carrier. If you’ve ever traveled with kids, you know how much you would give for an extra set of hands. Even four hands aren’t enough. Any baby carrier works, but my favorite is the Ergobaby 360. I tend to use the Doona up until the last minute before boarding, then move the baby to the carrier so I can be hands-free for boarding. Most airlines will require you to remove the carrier and hold the baby without it before takeoff, but if everything times out perfectly, hopefully the baby is asleep by that point.

3. Snacks & No-Spill Snack Cups

This one is for babies closer to that 6-12 month mark, but snacks are a lifesaver on flights for this age. Cheerios, Once Upon a Farm pouches, puffs, and tractor wheels, yogurt melts, and more. And the no-spill snack cups allow for them to be more independent, giving you a break.

4. The Right Toys

Depending on your baby’s age, the right toys to occupy them will make the time pass quicker on the plane. When our daughter was 6-months-old, she loved this Skip Hop puppy dog stuffed animal with attachments and teethers. When she was a little bit older, this busy board did the trick.
